From heading down to the jetty for a fish with the kids to smashing out tuna offshore, the Fish Measure is your new ready reckoner for fishing in Queensland. Fisheries are managed by State Governments, so each state has its own rules and regulations that need to be adhered to and have been researched and tailored to each of the 5 different versions available - we only stock the Queensland version.

Made from stainless steel and extensively tested, the Fish Measure passed with passing colours. From immersion to oxidation in seawater over extended periods of time the Fish Measure showed no signs of degradation. Unlike traditional measures the Fish Measure’s case has holes in it which allow water to wash through it to wash it out, especially if any sand or foreign objects get into it.

Its compact size means it will easily fit into any tackle box and the carabiner clip can be used to secure it to a gimbal belt, bait board or similar so that is exactly where you need it, when you need it. Each tape is 2m long and marked in mm increments through laser etching, that won’t rub off and can be locked into place to make measuring easy. Along the tape each fish species is marked at its minimum take size. Beside the species name there is also the species individual bag limit and, if applicable, boat catch limit. Many species have additional rules and regulations attached to them like closures, species groupings and area restrictions to name a few. Using an alphabetical annotation system, other rules specific to the species can be found in tables towards the end of the measure. If a maximum size is regulated for a species this is noted on each the Max and Min sizes on the tape. For those that are lucky enough to fish across multiple states each of the 5 measures are clearly marked with the state to ensure you only take home what is legal.
